Crowns & Pulp Therapy
We offer different crown options for your child. They are recommended when a traditional filling is not strong enough to protect the tooth until it will naturally fall out. The baby teeth serve as the “GPS” for the adult teeth, so keeping the baby teeth present until the adult teeth are ready to come in is very important.
Baby Root Canals (Pulpotomy or Pulpectemy)
A cavity that becomes too large and the nerve is involved will need a “baby root canal”. A pediatric root canal maintains the vitality of the tooth so that the tooth is not lost early. Early loss of teeth can cause eruption problems with the adult dentition. Baby root canals may be needed due to dental caries or if the nerve of the tooth is exposed due to traumatic injuries. The procedure will remove the infected pulp tissue within the crown of the tooth. Once the baby root canal is completed a final restoration is needed.
